IML Injection Molds

The term IML is the abbreviation of In-Mold Labeling. In the simplest terms, Polyproplene (PP) label already printed and cut in the form of the product is inserted into the mold. Then, as the melt PP put into the mold merges with the label, the final product decorated with high-quality printing is obtained.

Started to be applied in the early 1990s, in-mold labeling technology delivers the most accurate solution with the harmony of the mold, robot, injection machine and label parameters.

Main properties to consider for a mold suitable for in mold labeling technology:

  • A very good cooling system
  • Correct selection of the material used in the mold
  • Designing the mold in accordance with the label shape and the product
  • Selection of hot runner system and heat control system
  • Robot technology suitable for in-mold labeling (IML) technology
